9 Best Places To Spend Your Wedding Night In Melbourne

If you thought that finding a wedding venue was hard, wait until you start looking for a place to go after the day is all wrapped up (even without the mother-in-law’s opinion…) Just like planning your pre-wedding prep, you need to take some time to think about where you’re going to spend your wedding night. Old-world grandeur or ultra-modern industrial-chic? How about a bottle of chilled Champagne waiting for you when you arrive? If you’re a romantic at heart, there are a few musts that I think any post-wedding hotel should have. So, here are my top picks for where to spend your wedding night in Melbourne:

1. Adelphi

If a unique venue is the main course of a wedding, then the postnuptial hotel is most certainly the dessert. So where better than Adelphie, the ‘world’s premier dessert hotel’? The candy-shaped furniture and retro look will make for a very sweet stay indeed, as will the rooftop deck and, of course, the ground-floor dessert bar Om Nom. Voted the best boutique hotel in Victoria, they offer a variety of rooms, including the decadent Palatial Suite if you’re feeling really fancy. So busy at the wedding that you barely had time to eat? Fear not, there’s 24-hour room service and complimentary snacks (or should that be sweets?).

2. Hotel Windsor

Even the name of this hotel exudes old-world sophistication and grandeur. Founded in 1883, the Victorian architecture of this hotel screams romance and its rich history will have you walking the same halls as royalty from a bygone time. It offers a range of rooms and suites, each with traditional decor in natural tones, and if you go for one of the Superior or Deluxe Rooms, or any of the suites, you can opt for the Grand Romance Package, which includes Champagne on arrival, in-room breakfast for two and, mercifully, a late checkout.

3. Coppersmith

From the grandeur of an old-timey hotel, to the modern masterpiece that is Coppersmith. No less luxurious, but a little more laid-back, this boutique hotel offers all the mod-cons to make your stay as comfortable as possible, including USB wall sockets (useful while you scroll through all the “Congrats” messages), Nespresso machines and air-con. And with an in-room service from the bistro and bar menu, you’ll barely have to get out of bed.

4. The Olsen

Set in the upscale suburb of South Yarra, this boutique hotel gets its unique charm – as well as its name – from the Australian landscape artist whose work adorns the walls and entranceway, Dr John Olsen. A wedding night in the Olsen is a wedding night surrounded by beauty in every room, from the studio suite to the penthouses that boast breathtaking views of the city skyline. The Olsen also offers the perfect opportunity to unwind the day after your wedding with its romantic day spa.

5. Blackman Hotel

Another of the Art Series hotels, this boutique lodging celebrates the work of Australian painter Charles Blackman. His dreamlike images are sure to sweep you into a mysterious world, where you and your just-turned-spouse can relive the excitement of the day. Located in St Kilda, the hotel is just a stone’s throw from the beach meaning you can shed the vestments of your wedding day and, finally, relax.

6. Lyall Hotel and Spa

Another hotel in the desirable South Yarra district, a stay here is all about luxury, complete with bespoke cocktails, endless Champagne and a relaxing spa. A range of rooms are available, but as newlyweds, why not take advantage of their Romance Package or, if you’re feeling really decadent, the Sip Shop Spa Offer, which includes massages and steam sessions for you and your partner?

7. QT Melbourne

This design-driven boutique hotel is all about looking good — exactly what you’d expect on your wedding day. Nestled in the high-end fashion district, this place rejects the ideas of traditional romantic hotels in Melbourne, going instead for a sexy industrial-chic look. Bespoke designer furnishings and modern art gives an air of sophistication in which to bask on your wedding night. If you’re looking to end the day in style, this is the place to do it. Oh, and there is 24-hour room service, so no need to leave that designer suite

8. Treasury on Collins

The heritage-listed property is located in the heart of Melbourne and offers expansive suites, loft apartments and one to two-bedroom serviced apartments. What’s more, they offer a range of packages to make your wedding night even more unforgettable. First, the Celebration Gift Pack, with Veuve Champagne, gourmet chocolates and flowers to add a little traditional romance to your stay. Or, to really make the most of your wedding night, the ‘Love You Lofts Package’, which hosts you in a ‘New York style split level Loft Apartment’ with a private spa bath as well as supplying a bottle of sparkling wine, chocolates, breakfast for two and a late check-out — just add flowers.

9. The Langham

A luxury 5-star hotel along the renowned Southbank Promenade, the hotel itself offers a limousine transfer to kick your wedding night off in style. There is a range of rooms and suites, with the Executive Terrace Room affording you magnificent views for a postnuptial glass of Champagne. Why not take advantage of their Wish Upon a Star offer, which provides breakfast, sparkling wine and access to the Health Club and Wellness Centre on top of your stay, so you don’t have to worry about the morning after.

There are plenty of romantic hotels in Melbourne, so one is sure to match exactly what you’re looking for. Use my top picks as a starting point, and dive into the world of post-wedding planning!
