Free The Bird is a Melbourne-based wedding photography studio capturing weddings across Australia and worldwide on digital and 35mm film.
A wedding day should feel like your life, not a production. I move between observation and direction, stepping in when it helps and stepping back when it doesn’t. Drawn to the quiet, the chaos, and everything in between.
The day as it felt, remembered honestly.
The experience
Most couples tell me they’re worried about feeling awkward in front of the camera. You don’t need to perform here. I guide when it’s needed, but for most of the day I take a step back and let things unfold.
When the moment calls for it, I’ll step in with clear direction to refine what’s already there. Not to interrupt, but to elevate. This is where the editorial side of my work comes in, creating images images that feel timeless and lived-in, like something pulled from a family archive.
What it’s like to work together
From the moment you enquire, everything is kept straightforward.
Once you’re ready to lock things in, a signed contract and a deposit secure your date. From there, I’m available throughout the planning process if you need guidance, and we’ll work together on your timeline closer to the day to make sure everything flows well.
On the wedding day, I arrive calm, prepared, and attentive to what’s happening around me. I’m there to document, to gently guide when needed, and to make sure you can stay in it.

Some collections also include fine art prints & and albums. Extra coverage, second photographers, and additional film can be added where needed.

Travel & Timing
I photograph weddings locally across Victoria, as well as interstate and overseas. Travel is quoted separately depending on location.
You’ll receive a preview of your wedding within 48 hours, with a full gallery delivered in 4–6 weeks.

I tend to work with couples who care more about how their day feels than how it’s perceived.
People who are present with their friends and family, who trust the process, and who are open to letting things unfold naturally, while allowing space for something more considered when it matters.
