Alora Macedon Wedding Venue: What you need to know
I’m Morgan, a wedding photographer and videographer. I visited Alora Macedon a few months back and honestly wasn’t sure what to expect. There’s been a lot of interest around it, and sometimes venues don’t quite live up to the hype. This one does. I’ve since photographed an editorial here with an incredible team of Melbourne vendors, so I’ve seen the property work from the inside.
Here are a few things worth knowing before you lock in your wedding day here.

The atrium
This is the main event and it earns it. Around 600sqm of floor-to-ceiling glass, a full commercial kitchen on site, seats up to 400 and licensed for 500+. The black frame, the polished concrete floors, the way the light pours through the glass at different times of day. It’s a stunning space to be in and it photographs incredibly well. Morning light, golden hour, evening, all of it works.
It’s also more flexible than you might think. Most couples will use it as their reception space, but it works just as well for an indoor ceremony or cocktail hour. You’re not locked into one way of using it, which gives you a lot of room to make the day feel like yours.

Accommodation at Alora Macedon
Both houses have been renovated really well. Not in a show-home way, in a way that actually feels warm and nice to be in.
The top house sleeps 14. The lower cottage sleeps 9, has a balcony with views across the Ranges, and a lawn out front that’s perfect for portraits before the day even kicks off. Between the two you’ve got 23 people sleeping on the property, which means your closest people can spend the night. No convoy of cars, no waiting around. Just everyone together.
I’ll always be straight about getting-ready spaces because they make a real difference to the photos. These are genuinely great. Good light, beautiful finishes, enough room to actually move around. Your morning is going to look amazing.

The rest of the Alora Macedon property
13 acres gives you a lot to work with. Stone courtyards, garden settings, the poolside area with Tuscan arches. On a sunny afternoon it honestly looks like Italy. The driveway entrance has this great symmetry that works really well for portraits. There are enough different spots across the property that your photos won’t all look the same, and that’s something I really love about it.

The ceremony space
The ceremony space sits up on the hill looking out over the Ranges. Draping covers the ceiling, the glass opens the whole thing up, and the view does the rest. It’s a genuinely beautiful spot to get married, or have your cocktail hour to break the day up if you’ve had your ceremony outside.

Photographing a wedding at Alora Macedon
I’ve photographed in beautiful venues all over, including Europe, and Alora is right in our backyard.
When the whole day happens on one property, you’re not rushing between locations, which means more time for the moments that matter and a calmer day for you. I’ll plan your timeline around the light, so your portraits get the best of it. The ceremony spot is the one I’m most curious about. The hill or the atrium, I honestly can’t wait to see what couples go for. It’s a peaceful place to get married and an exciting place to photograph.
