Kallista & Sam

What a Day…of the Dead we had at Kallista and Sam’s city wedding at Alto Events Melbourne. With an all-star line up working with them, Kallista and Sam made their wedding day fun, individual and super romantic.

Alto Events Melbourne is one of my favourite venues. This wedding was ‘Day of the Dead’ themed so sitting in the heart of Melbourne amongst gothic buildings with a view of the city was perfect in every way.  But I’m beginning at the end, let me take you back to the start of the day.

Thinking of a First Look?

A first look, or reveal, is something about half of my couples choose to do. There are some fabulous reasons to see each other before the ceremony, mostly because you get to hang out with each other for longer and spend less time away from your guests, which is a huge bonus in my eyes. It means we get to take portraits in more rad locations, as you will see here with Kallista and Sam. Sam seeing Kallista for the first time was just incredible and made me realise how lucky I am to witness and document these memories.

At the Ceremony

Set against an incredible backdrop by North Street Florist (check it out, it’s one of the most magical so far), Sean the Celebrant worked his magic as always. Sean was who Leelou and I chose to be our celebrant just a few months ago so it was great to see him in action again. I might be biased but he’s my favourite celebrant!

What do portraits look like at Alto Events Melbourne?

Alto Events Melbourne is perfectly placed to head out for a few sneaky portraits later in the day, so that’s exactly what we did. There’s everything you could want in walking distance and it really is the essence of Melbourne city.

Day of the Dead Reception

There were so many detailed little elements to this huge party that you don’t want to miss. Enjoy taking it all in and as always, let me know what you think in the comments.

“Jai was amazing to work with from the first moment we sat down with him. He was fun, relaxed, passionate about what he did and it all came naturally. The photos from our wedding day and slideshow are full of so much emotion and we re-live the day looking through them. Jai is truly amazing and we can’t recommend him enough.” Sam (Groom)
